Clinical supervision for Grad students and associates

The supervision you actually need and maybe never got

You chose this field because you genuinely care about people. You went into placements and internships ready to learn how to sit with someone in pain, how to hold space, how to actually help. And somewhere along the way, you ended up in supervision sessions that spent more time on documentation deadlines and productivity metrics than on the actual work of becoming a clinician. Or in my experience, a supervision who wouldn’t stop talking about their personal life.

I remember that feeling. The isolation of not knowing how to handle a client in crisis and being afraid to admit it. The sense that supervision was something to get through, not something that actually helped you grow. The gap between what you were learning in school and what you were encountering in the room.

This is my attempt to offer something different.

I am 100% focused on supporting you as a clinician. Not on your productivity, your note turnaround time, or your agency's metrics. This is supervision where the only agenda is helping you become the therapist you're trying to be.

What this supervision actually covers

Every session is shaped by what you bring in. That might include:

  • How to actually be with a client in distress not just the clinical protocol, but what to do with yourself in the room when things get hard

  • Handling a client in crisis: what to say, what not to say, and how to stay regulated when they aren't

  • Navigating countertransference: when a client gets under your skin and you don't know why

  • Building your clinical identity: what kind of therapist do you want to be, and what does that actually look like in practice

  • The specific exhaustion of early-career social work, the secondary trauma, the compassion fatigue, the imposter syndrome

  • Case conceptualization: how to hold a client's story and build a treatment approach that actually fits them

  • Ethical dilemmas and the gray areas that don't have clean answers

  • Modality questions: how to start integrating approaches like CBT or EMDR into your work. Also how to integrate an intervention with confidence.

This is not administrative supervision. This is clinical support…the kind that actually makes you better at the work and not just another employee at the practice.

An important note on licensing hours

Please note: This supervision does not count toward LMSW or LCSW licensing hours in New York State. You will still need to complete your required supervised hours through your employer or an approved supervisor for licensing purposes. What I'm offering is supplemental clinical support: a space focused entirely on your growth as a clinician, completely separate from the requirements and pressures of your licensing process.

What makes this different from your required supervision

Your agency supervisor has competing priorities. They have caseload targets, documentation requirements, compliance checklists, and their own pressure from leadership. Even the best agency supervisors are working within a system that doesn't always prioritize your clinical development above everything else.

This supervision has one priority: you. What you're struggling with clinically. What's getting in the way of your growth. What you need to hear that nobody in your workplace is saying. There's no productivity agenda. No notes review. No performance evaluation that feeds back to your employer.

Just someone who has been where you are, genuinely cares about the profession, and wants to help you become the clinician you came into this field to be.

Who this is a good fit for

  • MSW students in field placements who feel underprepared for the complexity of real client work

  • Students whose placement supervisors are stretched thin or not very clinical in their approach

  • LMSWs who are getting their required hours but feel like they're not getting enough actual clinical mentorship

  • Early-career social workers dealing with secondary trauma, burnout, or imposter syndrome

  • Anyone who wants a confidential space to bring the hard cases, the ethical gray areas, and the moments where they genuinely don't know what they're doing
